NJPW LIST – NJPW WRESTLERS AS GODS

Welcome to something very spontaneous that I, your girl Ali, came up with this blog piece idea in honor of & inspired by our IWGP Intercontinental & Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi, who now officially claims he is a god. So because of this, I have decided to make a post in which I compare NJPW wrestlers as mythological gods, semi-gods, etc. Hope you guys enjoy this fun entry as much as I enjoy making stuff like this. (By all means don’t take it personally. I’m just being random with it). So without further a due, let’s get started!

KOTA IBUSHI AS heracles

So yes, Heracles isn’t exactly a god, and more of a hero but bare with me here. Ibushi is NJPW’s hero.

tetsuya naito as dionysus

Dionysus is a “twice-born” god since he was sewed into Zeus’s thigh blablabla well Naito is kinda like that since Naito kinda did a “rebirth” of sorts when Los Ingobernables de Japón was formed. Also, Naito like Dionysus likes to endulge in…

evil as hades

EVIL as Hades was a pretty obvious choice. King of Darkness = God of the Underworld.

hiroshi tanahashi as apollo

Hiroshi Tanahashi as Apollo (god of music, art, light & knowledge). Tana is the ace of New Japan. He has an invisible guitar (music), his wrestling is his form of (art), he represents (light) in the fact that he protecc and is a nice guy, and (knowledge) with experience. ALSO LOOK AT THE PICTURES OMG!!!

jay white as momus

Jay White as Momus (god of satire, mockery, blame, criticism, etc). If there is something jay is really good at is mocking everyone & the world, esp. he is definitely mocking us with all those rumors. Plus the beard though…

hiromu takahashi as helios

Hiromu Takahashi as Helios, the god of the sun, because Hiromu is the sun itself. simple as that.

minoru suzuki as typhon

Minoru Suzuki as Typhon, who is the father of all monsters, and we all know Minoru is one of the most intimidating men in all wrestling today so it fits perfectly.

sho as zeus

SHO as Zeus, God of Thunder. Shocking? His gear usually has the high voltage gear & merch. SHO’s Shock Arrow = Zeus’ lightning bolt.

kazuchika okada as plutus

Kazuchika Okada as Plutus the god of wealth & greed – he may be the rainmaker, but he makes money rain.

shingo takagi as kratos

Shingo Takagi as Kratos (god of strength and power, our beefy dragon boy has battled many other strong beefy boys and has beat them too, so it suits him)

taichi as pan

Pan is a god of many things, including the wild, rustic music and impromptus, and he is pictured as having goat horns. Taichi delights us with music and he is the real GOAT in New Japan so this makes sense to me.

Tama Tonga as Narcissus

Ever since Tama Tonga changed his look, I just can’t stop thinking how extra handsome he looks. And I bet he knows he looks fine as hell so that’s why I’d compare him with Narcissus. If I was Tama and looked at myself at a river, I too would fall in love with myself.

toru yano as hermes

At first glance you may think this makes no sense, but bare with me on this one. Hermes is not only considered the Messenger of gods and god of trade, luck, fertility, travel, etc., but also he is known for being one of the most mischievous one just like our friend, the Sublime Master Thief, Toru Yano.

Conclusion

Glad you made it this far! Hope you guys enjoyed this fun little piece I made about NJPW and gods, heroes, etc. Like I said earlier, I was very inspired in Kota Ibushi becoming a god. Take care everyone! Remember to stay hydrated, healthy, social distancing, masking up and to always be kind to one another. See you on the next blog piece very soon. BYE!
